Tell All Tuesday

I'm linking up with My Day in K and Teach, Talk, Inspire for Tell all Tuesday!  A wish, a goal, and a dream for the upcoming year... I'm so excited to share!

As the calendar turned to August this past weekend I've been thinking about my classroom, my new kiddos, and the upcoming school year and this is a perfect way to share my thoughts!

My Goal: My goal for this school year is to be a more skilled reading teacher.  I've worked hard this summer to revamp my reading block.  I've read some great books by Jennifer Serravallo and I'm so excited to implement her ideas into my classroom.  I've always enjoyed teaching reading and the new ideas I have for my reading block will really help me to meet the needs of all the kiddos in my class!

My Wish: My wish is that each of my kiddos will make connections to peers in our class as well as myself as their teacher.  I believe these connections are so important to motivate kids to work hard and learn in school.  I try each day to get to know my kiddos as learners as well as 6 and 7 year olds with personalities and interests outside of school.

My Dream: My dream for this school year is to create a student-centered classroom that "runs itself".  Each year of my teaching career I've worked to ensure the routines, lessons, and expectations are what is best for my kiddos and I look forward to another year where this will be true.  I feel like each year I get a little better at creating a room that meets the needs of the kids in it and allows them opportunities to take charge of their own learning!

Here's to another great year in first grade!!
